Benjamin Helms

I am an Assistant Professor of International Affairs in the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

My research interests are in political economy, with a focus on the political consequences of globalization for developing countries, as well as the political economy of migration. My research is published in the American Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Studies in Comparative International Development, and Cambridge University Press.

Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Institute for Politics and Strategy at Carnegie Mellon University. I completed my PhD in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia in May 2022. 

My book (co-authored with David Leblang), The Ties That Bind: Immigration and the Global Political Economy, is available from  Cambridge University Press and on Amazon.
